Why to Choose Bilingual Schools

There are lots of reasons why you may want your kid to enter bilingual elementary schools. The first obvious reason is that your kids will have the opportunity to fast track his learning in algebra, physics, social studies, chemistry, biology and other related fields if taught in their native language, for instance, Spanish. There are usually two media of instructions used in bilingual schools – English and the native language of your child. Your children will be clustered together according to the native language. For example, Spanish speaking fourth graders are grouped together in one classroom. There will be separate classrooms each for French speaking kids, for Farsi speaking students, for German speaking students, for Mandarin speaking students, for Russian speaking students or for Niponggo speaking children. There are actually different methods of education employed in a typical international bilingual school. There’s the transitional bilingual education. The second method is the dual language bilingual education. Half of the students in the classroom are native English speakers and half of the students are native speakers of another language (i.e. Spanish). One benefit from this is that immigrant students can interact with their classmates who were born in the United States and vice versa. Together, they will learn each other’s culture. The American kids will show them around the school campus on their day to day life and at the same time ask their foreign classmates about their day to day lives as kids in their home countries. In most likely cases, girls from different countries will discover common interests such as friends, music, fashion, etc.

The third effective method of bilingual education is allowing the student to ask the teacher in his native language with the teacher answering in English.
